JavaScript History and Information
Brendan Eich developed JavaScript and named it Mocha initially while working for Netscape. After some time Mocha was renamed as LiveScript, however finally they renamed it JavaScript as we know it today. Netscape changed the name of LiveScript to JavaScript because they added the Java technology in its Netscape Web Browser. The JavaScript was first deployed in the Netscape browser in the year of 1995, and soon after it success in Netscape Navigator version 2.0b3. Microsoft also used JavaScript but with a different name of Jscript to avoid trademark issues, it was deployed in internet explorer 3 in the year of 1996. After that Jscript or JavaScript has gone under many changes and become the most powerful scripting languages for the web.
Today JavaScript is considered one of the most powerful languages and often used for client-side Web development. JavaScript also sometimes called as ECMAScript, because it follows the strict rules of the ECMAScript standard. JavaScript directly embedded into the HTML code, and is one of the lightest programming languages, and it is influenced by many languages especially JAVA.
JavaScript is the Trade mark of Sun Microsystems and one of the most well known trademarks in the web development, it was kept under license for sometime but now users don’t need a license to use it.
